You can subscribe and keep up to date with all the community events in your favourite calendar application on web, computer or smartphone. You can filter by categories and only select the events that interest you. You can also click on an individual event and go to the event page and Subscribe to just that particular event. If your application supports multiple calendars, create a new calendar for each category. We have included some documentation for some of the popular applications.

iCalendar is a computer file format which allows Internet users to send meeting requests and tasks to other Internet users, via email, or sharing files with an extension of .ics. Recipients of the iCalendar data file (with supporting software, such as an email client or calendar application) can respond to the sender easily or counter-propose another meeting date/time.

iCalendar is used and supported by a large number of products, including Google Calendar, Apple Calendar (formerly iCal), GoDaddy Online Group Calendar, IBM Lotus Notes, Yahoo! Calendar, Evolution (software), eM Client, Lightning extension for Mozilla Thunderbird and SeaMonkey, and partially by Microsoft Outlook and Novell GroupWise.

Click the ‘Subscribe’ button at the bottom of the calendar. If your computer has been setup to recognize webcal:// addresses you might be prompted to acknowledge that you are opening a hyperlink. You should click Yes. At the prompt, Add this Internet Calendar to Outlook and subscribe to updates click Yes.

The Internet Calendar opens in side-by-side view in the Outlook Calendar and is added to the Navigation Pane in Calendar view under Other Calendars. The calendar will check periodically for any updates made by the calendar publisher.

Open iCal and choose Subscribe from the Calendar menu. Copy and paste the url from the Subscribe button at the bottom of the calendar.

Click on Subscribe in Google Calendar at the bottom of the calendar. It will then open a Google Calendar page and ask if you want to Add the events to you Google Calendar.

Google Calendar offers advanced settings such as setting up your smartphone to receive notifications about events.

Mozilla Thunderbird is a popular cross platform mail application from Mozilla. It requires an addon called Lightning to add calendar functionality.

To add the Revelstoke Community Events calendar go to File -> New -> Calendar and select On the Network. Then Format : iCalendar(ICS) Location: paste in the link from the subscribe button by right clicking and copy link address or copy shortcut.

You click Next and give your calendar a name, color, show reminders, and an email address. Click Finish.
